Tech Tips:

AVID media management

By Adil Syed

Whenever you start to digitize media for your project be aware of how your drive partitions are set up. You want to digitize media to one partition at a time. Don’t indiscriminately digitize to a partition that the capture window randomly selects.

This process is especially important whenever you are rendering effects in your sequence. Avid will sometimes assign a partition as the Effect Source Disk which is different from your previously used drive. Once your partition has approximately 100MB remaining then switch to your next partition. Once you have used up a partition add an ‘x’ to designate it as full.

Using up your partitions one at a time will allow you greater flexibility the closer you get to the end of your project. Consolidation of media can be accomplished easier knowing you have clean partitions to send to.
