The switchable frame rate allows recordings to be made at 24, 25 and 30 progressive frames per second, and also at 50Hz, 59.94Hz and 60 Hz fields interlaced. It features 4 channels of AES/EBU digital audio. Equipped with dynamic tracking providing broadcast quality playback over the range -1 to +2 X Play speed. The recorder features advanced heads to provide full video and audio pre-read capability. HDCAM features an advanced compression scheme that provides robust multi-generation performance.
