The Evolution of the Canon 5D Mark IV

Oh, the things you can do with this camera…

I know I’m not the only one looking forward to our upcoming Learning Lab: Evolution of the Canon 5D Mark IV with Adam Van Voorhis on Wednesday, January 25th. This revolutionary camera has become a staple with filmmakers since the release of the EOS 5D Mark II in 2008.

It was the first camera of its kind to provide high-quality video in DSLR format. Since then, Canon has made significant strides with the 5D line by adding high speed 4K video, a DIGIC 6+ Image processor, as well as dual pixel auto focus, previously only seen on the higher-end EOS cameras.

The current 5D Mark IV also runs on the affordable compact flash media and is one of the best low-light still cameras on the market. Now in-stock and for sale at Rule Boston Camera. Call or email our sales department today for a personalized demo: sales@rule.com or 800-rule-com.

LEARNING LAB: KEY PRODUCTION SUPPORT TOOLS + TIPS FOR STEADIER IMAGES

Join Producer, Director, Cinematographer and VITEC Ambassador, Gary Adcock, for an in-depth explanation of some of the tricks to get the most from your Tripods and Supports.  Gary will cover how quality sticks and bricks will help you create a steadier image, how to maximize camera moves for a variety of deliverables, and how to properly set your tripod’s counterbalance and drag settings to create meaningful images.

The burgeoning market for 4K, VR and HDR deliverables has created a need for filmmakers to forge a better understanding of the supporting tools in production. Shooting 4K imagery requires that attention be taken to create the highest quality image. What might be a minor camera move in HD, can be uncomfortable when viewed with the increased detail in 4K. Lighting, even at a time when cameras are capable of seeing in the dark, is still a vital necessity in creating powerful and provoking imagery.

ABOUT GARY ADCOCK:

Gary’s unique understanding of OnSet and Production technologies and their relationships to Post Production has been a guide to the evolving relationship between acquisition, edit and delivery. Gary’s experience includes his jump into High Definition post production (1999), Demo of laptop-based HD editing (2004), Tapeless camera acquisition (2005), Digital Recorders as a replacement for Tape (2008), Workflow for Arri’s Alexa Camera (2010), and his latest focus on Intel’s Thunderbolt technology and what it means for the future of monitoring and data transfers.

Gary is one of the co-authors and the primary tech editor for the Data Handling Procedures and Best Practices Guide used by IATSE Local 600. Gary has been a regular speaker at NAB since 1999 as part of the ongoing Post Production World Conference, and a regular contributor to Macworld Magazine, as well PCMag and is a long-term contributor on CreativeCow.net.
